I’m Dr. Michelle Massey EdD, FDI, founder and floral designer behind Empty Nest Blossoms.

For more than 30 years, I built a career as a professor of Occupational Therapy and clinical therapist specializing in children’s feeding and swallowing. While my professional path was rooted in science, education, and clinical care, creativity was always quietly woven into the background of my life.

Flowers were my constant inspiration. Whether wandering the aisles of the Los Angeles Flower Mart or bringing home bundles from Trader Joe’s, I found joy in transforming bundles of chaos into something beautiful. Over time, that passion grew into a calling to create meaningful, artful floral experiences for others.

When my two sons left for college, I entered a new season of life and decided to embrace that passion fully. Empty Nest Blossoms was born from that transition—an opportunity to combine creativity, design, and storytelling through flowers. As life would have it, one of my sons has since moved back home, reminding me that even when the nest refills, new dreams can still take flight.

Today, Empty Nest Blossoms specializes in elevated floral design for weddings, celebrations, and intimate gatherings, blending lush garden-inspired florals with thoughtful, bespoke details. My goal is always the same: to create designs that feel both refined and deeply personal.
